AND THE WINNER IS… GENETWORX LABORATORY DIRECTOR RECEIVES THIS YEAR’S INNSBROOK ROTARY BUSINESS LEADER AWARD

Dr. Matt Beckman, Director of Laboratory Services for GENETWORx, is this year’s winner of the prestigious Innsbrook Rotary Club Business Leader Award.

For more than 25 years, the Innbrook Rotarians have honored a deserving community member with this award, signifying Beckman’s commitment to the community and business leadership.

“I am so honored to be a part of this community,” Beckman said. “As a national laboratory with deep ties to our local Richmond community, this is a vibrant business community and wonderful area to work and live.”

Adding Beckman to the Innsbrook Rotarian nameplate that spans a quarter of a century, the Rotary chose the Laboratory Director, and winner of Franciscan University’s Egan Career Award for Science and Technology, following the remarkable work performed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beckman was recognized for his leadership of GENETWORx – a national and regional laboratory headquartered in Glen Allen – which built molecular testing infrastructure and hired hundreds of workers at the onset of the Coronavirus outbreak, to provide much needed testing and support to millions of people nationwide.

“We have molecular testing for anything from gastro health to pharmacogenomics and ear, nose and throat, but when COVID struck we took a hard line and really pivoted in order to help keep the country tested and safe,” Beckman said. ”That our company was able to change direction and serve this great need makes me very proud.”

Beckman was honored at a recent Innsbrook Rotary ceremony, accompanied by his family and business associates.
