Infrastructure Systems Administrator

Position Summary:

IT Infrastructure Manager is to lead and manage the IT & Infrastructure team in supporting and continuously improving RCA’s lab IT infrastructure (servers and networks). This role will be responsible for managing infrastructure quality by establishing service level objectives and discussing with business stakeholders the right balance between quality (availability, security, performance, etc.) and cost, and work to improve each in order to better support clinicians, users and the business. The Administrator will seek to proactively integrate new technologies and lead the evolution of our systems architecture to create new business opportunities, streamline, operations, and provide available, performant secure, compliant, and easy-to-use IT systems and infrastructure.
A typical day might include checking in with and mentoring reports, helping to follow up on production issues or events detected through monitoring, meeting about IT projects to update stakeholders or check on the status of task and help remove bottlenecks or make critical decision. Some duties may include helping with IT due diligence or potential acquisitions or giving advice to management about infrastructure improvements, as well as supporting direct reports or taking on projects independently.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

· Lead the IT & Infrastructure team in the maintenance and operation of internal and external-facing services 24/7

· Establish service level objective for internal and external services, monitor, and improve services levels in a cost-effective manner

· Architect, design, and manage implementation of infrastructure to support growing business needs

· Propose, mange, and lead IT project to improve service quality, security, availability, etc.

· Document, communicate, and enforce IT governance rules and manage system-related risk

· Lead incident response and troubleshooting of production issues

· Provide technology leadership and articulate infrastructure strategy, especially with respect to advances like containers, infrastructure automation, cloud infrastructure

 

Education & Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

· Extensive hands-on experience with Windows and Linux or other Unix system administration

· Experience maintaining a high availability production web sites and solid understanding of web related technologies at all levels of the stack (network to application level)

· 3+ years of experience managing an IT Infrastructure team based on established SLA’s or KPI’s

· Project management experience and expertise

· Network monitoring knowledge and experience

· Excellent verbal and written communication ability and logical thinking skills, including the ability to tailor communication to technical or non-technical people and present to upper management

· Ability to write documentation that appropriately explains the processes and procedures used in the IT department

· Eagerness to engage with and learn new technologies that may have advantages for the business and ability to learn quickly

· Commitment to transparency and open communication with management, other teams, and team members

· Experience developing software, especially web applications preferred

· Experience working with containers (Docker), infrastructure automation technologies (Ansible/Chef/Puppet), CI/CD preferred

· Expertise with relational databases, their configuration and administration preferred
