Position Overview

The Product Manager – Pharmacogenetics is responsible for end to end intimate knowledge of market dynamics, strategic direction, offering details and customer needs of a defined set of products. The role will work with executive leadership to define and own the full life cycle of successful product innovation, development and implementation. The role will be responsible for both new and existing products.

 

Essential Functions

· Overall — Achieve product business plan. Accountable for product lifecycle and pipeline to include business planning, market analysis, competitive analysis, promotion, reporting, and customer satisfaction.

· Product Planning and Development

o Product offering from product/service conception to final available product

§ Market intelligence/Market research to ID products needed in the market

§ Features and Benefit requirements for product

§ Determine the optimal product to meet the customer needs and maximize revenue and profit opportunities.

o Review product portfolio with regard to strategic fit and company growth expectations and make recommendations on product development, introductions, modifications and deletions.

o Partner with laboratory operations, quality, regulatory, client services, scientific staff and business leadership to proactively manage day-to-day product needs.

· Brand Strategy: Promotion / Go to Market Strategy

o Development of brand strategies for products/services including establishment of value proposition, targeting & segmentation, positioning, branding, and lifecycle management.

o Needs to include packaging of the test offering/panel offering, product and service to the end user (ie, clinician, patient).

o Data and Information

§ Connectivity to clinician or patient. Facilitation of connectivity to EHR/EMR where appropriate

§ Education material to support test result

o Work with Marketing Communication to develop promotional programs including all elements of the promotional mix: development of detailed financial options, launch plans for new products, selection of sales channel, communication tactics, and collateral and other support materials as appropriate.

o Ongoing review of strategies and tactics to ensure plans are meeting needs of team and customers.

· Product Knowledge

o Resident expert and voice of the customer on the product offering, disease state or condition for which test(s) are designed.

o Resource to Sales, Marketing Communication, Senior leadership and others in the organization re: product and product positioning.

o Work with Sales Training to develop, refine and produce ongoing materials for product and service offerings for Sales and Marketing.

· Pricing and Business Analytics

o Understanding and analysis of product and service costs

o Sets pricing for product line

o Analysis of sales and profitability of product line.

o Monthly forecasting and production planning.

o Annual sales and expense budgeting.

· Customer Insights and Analytics

o Expert in customer and market needs.

o Via interaction with customers, subject matter experts (internal and external), KOLs, Sales and MarComm team.

o Gain knowledge of current and anticipated customer needs and requirements in order to build out comprehensive offering that enhances the customer experience.

o Understand and analyze the competitive landscape, including competitor market strategies and sales tactics.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field, science (biology, chemistry, or physics), or engineering

License/Cert.:

None required

Experience:

· 5 – 10 years experience in a product management role

· Significant experience in the field of pharmacogenetics

· Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition

· Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior executives

· Ability to think strategically and approach challenging situations in a solution oriented way, while considering the short term and long term goals of the organization
