Results Frequently Asked Questions

Results will be provided within 48 hours of receipt of the test kit at the GENETWORx laboratory.

The potential results include positive, negative or invalid. A result of invalid means a result from your sample could not be obtained due to possible problems in collection or shipment of the specimen.

The test can sometimes show a negative result even if you are infected SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. This can happen if:

  • It is too early in infection for the test to detect the virus.
  • There was a problem with your sample or the test itself.

If your results are negative and you have symptoms, continue to follow isolation precautions and ask your healthcare provider if you need further testing.

If your results are negative and you don’t have any symptoms, continue to monitor for any symptoms up to 14 days after your last possible exposure.

This test can sometimes show a positive result even if you are not infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. This test has been designed to minimize false positive results but they can still happen due to problems with the sample that can occur during collection, transport, and/or testing. If you are concerned about the accuracy of your results, ask your healthcare provider if you need further testing.

You will be notified of your results via email and push notification on your phone if you have downloaded the Aura app (and not turned off push notifications from Aura).

Your results will be available within Aura.

You may download your results reported in the Aura app so that they may be emailed to others.

A PWN physician will contact those who took the test and received a positive result. Individuals with positive results will receive an outbound alert call from the PWNHealth clinical team.

PWN will attempt to reach the individual by phone three (3) times over three (3) business days. The first attempt will be made within 24 hours of results receipt. Our Patient Care Department (PCD) will request to speak to, and only deliver results to the guardian identified at the time the order was placed.

If no contact is made, PWN will send a letter to the Individual’s address on file.

If contact is made, PWN will notify the Individual of their result, direct them to their email to view additional clinical contact and discuss next steps in care.

On the call, the patient will be offered the opportunity to schedule a consult with a licensed healthcare provider from PWN.

Consults are available to all patients, regardless of results, and can be requested by contacting PWN directly at the phone or email address provided.
